The Norton Priory Learning Team offer a range of fun, curriculum based hands-on sessions for schools. We offer tailor made workshops for Early Years, KS1, KS2 and KS3.
Learning sessions take place across the site with classrooms available in the museum or at the walled garden.
Norton Priory is a safe place to visit and all of our workshops are risk assessed.
All school groups must book in advance.
We offer a number of history sessions based at Norton Priory Museum, the Walled Garden and Halton Castle.
Topics include Early Man (Prehistoric life), Invaders & Settlers (Anglo Saxons, Vikings), Medieval (including life in a church), Castles (including Normans), Tudors, Victorians, Toys through time, archaeology and local history.
We also offer festive Victorian Christmas Parties in the beautiful Undercroft throughout December and drama workshops in collaboration with Much Ado workshops.
Your class may prefer a science based workshop, options include skeletons, materials and natural history - pond dipping, minibeasts, bees, habitats, bushcraft and gardening activities.
We also deliver fun fairy tales based sessions ideal for Early Years and KS1 (e.g Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, Goldilocks) as well as mascot hunts (Bramble the Big Bunny or Smokey the Friendly Dragon.)
Art workshops are another speciality, and include medieval clay tiles, illumination writing with quills, soap making, mono printing and wild art. Bespoke workshops are also available.
