This summer’s community excavation at Halton Castle was filmed by BBC NW’s InsideOut. It airs on BBC1 NW Monday 30th October at 7.30pm and will be on iplayer for 4 weeks afterwards. We’ve also our very own film that can be viewed here:

The footage shows the preliminary findings from the exciting excavation uncovered by a wonderful team of more than 100 volunteers led by the University of Salford’s Centre for Applied Archaeology.  Thank you to everyone involved and the players of the National Lottery as the dig was partly funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. Many of the finds and the male skeleton from the 2015 excavation are currently on display in the Norton Priory museum.

Please note, the castle is only open for special events, group bookings and booked school groups. Events are always advertised on our website.
