Norton Priory are gathering stories for the Halton’s Gallant Heroes project.

Much has been done to commemorate those who lost their life in WW1, but this project is focusing on Halton’s WW1 gallantry medal winners who survived the war.

A booklet will be produced telling the stories of these men. Perhaps you are a relative or someone who is interested in local history who has uncovered the story of their war and their life afterwards. Perhaps you can share an account of why they receive their medal? What did they do after the war? Did they go on to have an interesting career? Did they have a family?

We are looking for any memorabilia, photographs, newspaper clippings or letters. of those who were from Widnes, Runcorn, Daresbury or Moore.

The project for is being delivered by Norton Priory Museum Trust in partnership with Halton Heritage Partnership and is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
